About Titans Track: The Lake Travis Titans Track club was organized in 2002 to promote track and field as a "Sport for Life" in the Lake Travis community. The track club trained 42 registered athletes in it's inagural season. Titans compete in AAU sanctioned regional youth, open and master's track meets.
Our Philosophy: The quote "track is punishment for all other sports" is a bit extreme but at the same time flattering to the sport. Track is truly a sport which translates well into just about any other physical endeavor. Running, jumping, throwing are all components of nearly every sport. Our program services the Lake Travis athlete who wants to get better at whatever sport he/she chooses to participate in.
Eligible Participants: All boys and girls ages 5 to 18. Adults are encouraged to train and compete with us as well. Some of the meets we attend include family and masters competitions. We have no tryouts, anyone interested in participating is welcome. This year the Titan's will divide the club into recreational and competitive groupings. Recreational participants will be eligible for all practice sessions and to compete in all warm-up meets. Competitive participants will be eligible for AAU, USATF and TAAF regional competition. Practices will be structured differently for both catagories, with the recreational practices emphasizing more general (all-sport) fitness and the competitive practices involving more event specific technique and training.
2005 Age Divisions:
Competition age divisions and corresponding birth years are as follows: Bantam (1995-later) Midget (1993-1994) Youth (1991-1992) Intermediate (1989-1990) Young Men/Women (1987-1988)
AAU: (Primary 1997 or younger) Sub-Bantam (1996) Bantam (1995) Sub-Midget (1994) Midget (1993) Sub-Youth (1992) Youth (1991) Intermediate (1989-90) Young Men/Women (1987-88).
TAAF: PeeWee (1997 and younger), Bantam (1995-96), Midget (1993-94), Junior (1991-92), Intermediate (1989-90), Senior (1987-88).
Membership: The LTTTC has an annual registration of $60 ($10 for each additional family member) which will be used to purchase equipment for our club and it's members and facilities usage fees. Uniforms are provided. Competing members do pay AAU, USATF and TAAF association fees and travel and meet registration expenses. Association (AAU, USATF, and TAAF) fees are $12 per year or less and meet fees are usually very inexpensive as well ($5 for up to 4 events). Complete and return the attached (ms word doc) registration form with membership dues of $60 payable to the:
LTYA/Titans Track
For insurance purposes all LTTTC members must be AAU "added benefit" members in good standing.
Steps to join the LTTTC
AAU Insurance comes with an AAU membership and is secondary medical and liability insurance. It is accident insurance not health insurance - it won't cover kidney transplant or heart attacks. There are some things about AAU insurance that all LTTTC members should be aware of: EVERYONE (athletes, coaches, club officers) associated with the LTTTC is required to be a member of the AAU. The LTTTC requires everyone purchase the 'AB' card. This is the $12 card for athletes and the $14 card for coaches. 'AB' stands for 'added benefit'. The added benefit is that the LTTC may participate in non-AAU sanctioned tournaments and still be covered. The coverage requires that EVERYONE on the team be an AAU member and have the AB card. It is terrific insurance for the price. AAU membership and coverage information can be procured online at aausports.org.
Practices/Schedule: Beginning Monday May 10th, 2004, the Lake Travis Titans will be practicing each Monday and Thursday (6-7:30 pm) at the Lake Travis High School track. Upcoming meet information will be posted on this site.
