  • About LTPW: The Lake Travis Pop Warner Youth Football Association (LTPWYFA) is the second largest member of Pop Warner's Central Texas Division. Lake Travis joined the Pop Warner family in 1996 and has competed each year since. Veryl Johnson founded youth football in the Lake Travis area in 1994 by instituting an inter-league flag football program. Mr. Johnson was instrumental in establishing tackle football at Lake Travis in 1995 when we joined the San Antonio/Austin Youth Football Assn. (SAAYFA). When SAAYFA disbanded after the 1995 season, Lake Travis applied for, and was granted, a Central Texas Pop Warner Charter for the 1996 season.

  • Philosophy: LT Football will endeavor to emphasize 3 key objectives: SAFETY, participation over competition, and education over performance. We will strive to ensure that all participants spend an equal amount of time in play. We expect coaches to maintain a safe, positive and nourishing environment for all participants. Our coaches will not be judged on their win/loss record but on their "Fun Coefficient". Above all, we will remember that this activity is for "the kids". It is our philosophy to provide a strong emphasis on the core fundamentals of football - running, blocking, tackling and passing. Teamwork, committment, work-ethic, respect and sportsmanship are strongly emphasized.

  • Eligible Participants: Any youth between 5-13 who resides within the LTISD and is a current member in good standing of the Lake Travis Youth Association (LTYA). Participants must complete a physical examination before apporval to play. Participants wishing to play who live outside of the LTISD may do so by submitting a waiver from their resident Pop Warner association.

LTPW Champions - Lake Travis has competed in CTPW since 1997, winning seven CTPW championships in that time period. In our first year of CTPW play (1997), our flag team went undefeated (the only LT program to do so) 9-0, to take the CTPW crown (at that time CTPW competed for a CTPW flag championship). In 1998 a young JPW team, led by QB Luke Lagera, won the CTPW Championship, beat Bulverde in the QFinals and then lost to the Pleasant Grove Trojans (Dallas) in the State Sem-Finals game in Dallas. In 1999 that same group of returning JPW players, led by QB Thomas Loth and RB's Max Minor and Fred Robinson, went 11-0 in regular season play (1st LTPW 10 win season). They beat the Houston Garden Villa Giants in the State QFinals and then lost to the Holy Family Eagles (San Antonio) in San Antonio in the State Semi-Finals. That same group of kids took the CTPW PW crown in 2000 as well, going 9-0 and then losing to that same Holy Family Eagle team in the State Semi's. In 2002 the underdog LTPW JPW White team (7-3) completed a Cinderella season beating Westlake in the CTPW Championship game in Taylor. They lost in the State Semi Finals to the San Antonio Edgewood Seminoles. In 2003 Lake Travis had CTPW Champions in two weight/age division for the first time. The JPW White Cats went 11-0 (second ever ten win season) to take the CTPW Crown and the LT Junior Midgets came back to beat South Austin (who they lost to twice in the regular season) in the leagues Championship game.
