Sept.2 , 2000 - The LT Red Cats opened the 2000 season with a win at Austin LBJ High School over the Northeast Cougars. Lake Travis racked up almost 200 yards of offense while holding the Cougars to only 23 plays and 38 yards. Hunter Graul and Nate Baker led the way offensively with 18 carries for 52 yards (Graul) and 8 carries for 49 yards (Baker). Tyler Halbert had 3 carries for 17 and Ty Thurman carried 3 times for 11 yards. Baker, from the fullback spot, scored twice from 22 and 1 yard(s). Fullback Ty Thurman also scored from the one. The brightest spot offensively for the Cats came in the passing game where QB Brad Dydalowicz came up 4 for 7 for 48 yards. All four passes were corraled by Austin Manos establishing an early season connection. Lake Travis' defense also performed well allowing the Cougars only one first down and 38 yards total offense. Travis Taylor led the defense with 6 tackles followed by Nate Baker (4), Manos and Ben Taylor (3) and Cody Childress and Ty Thurman with two apiece. Bobby King and Hunter Graul fell on a pair of Cougar fumbles to squelch drives in the second half. The Cats take their regular season winning streak to thirteen consecutive games extending back to the third game of the '98 season, and their consecutive regular season shutouts to 5 straight. Unlike last year's (99) explosive offensive, the '00 Cats opened the season with a long-drive, ball control offense, with consecutive drives of 8, 12 and 11 plays. The Cats established a running game inside by controlling the line of scrimmage between the ends. Offensive linemen Logan Harvill (C), guard's Hunter Mendell and Dustin Williams, tackles Johnathon Thompson, Sly Santos and Eric Necker and ends Hoagan Adam and Cody Childress maintained their blocks allowing good penetration in the middle (all but 6 of LT's yards were gained between the ends). Coach David Davee exploited the Northeast middle until the Cougars packed the box which opened up the passing game for Dydalowicz and Manos. Dydalowicz threw under little pressure as again the OLine and blocking backs pass blocked well. The Cougars tested the LT CB's by running 18 sweeps in their 23 offensive plays. The LT corners and OLB's responded well as the Cougars averaged only 1.65 yards per carry.
Sept. 9, 2000 - LT JPW Red Cats beat the NCA Jaguars, 19-0. to go 2-0 in CTPW play. The Cats had 206 yards total offense to 41 yards for NC. (TB) Hunter Graul carried 9 times for 104 yards and a 60 yd. TD. (QB) Brad Dydalowicz and receiver Austin Manos teamed up with 3 for 5 passing, 33 yards including a 24 yd. TD. Defensively the cats allowed 41 yards total offense for North Central. Leading tackler were Ty Thurman (5), Ben Taylor (4), Hunter Graul, Bobby King and Travis Taylor (3) and Baker, Dustin Williams, Sly Santos, and Manos 2 each.
Sept. 16, 2000 - LT JPW Cats lost to a great Elgin Wildcat team. Lake Travis had 9 mishandled balls and 6 giveaways. Elgins all-out blitzing defense rattled LT and the offense stumbled all day. The LT Defense did well against the JPW no. 1 ranked team. LT's defense allowed two TD's in the first quarter then held Elgin scoreless the rest of the game. Nate Baker and Bobby King each led the team with 10 tackles, Travis Taylor had 4 including a drive ending 4th down stop and a 3rd down big hit and fumble recovery.
Sept 23, 2000 - Lake Travis JPW Red beat the East Austin Yellowjackets 13-7 in a close defensive contest. Lake Travis held on the Jackets 1st series and took over at the LT 40 yard line. TB Hunter Graul ran an 11 yard TD on LT's 7th play of the drive, EP no good. East Austin came right back and marched 52 yards on 6 plays for a score and EP (6-7). The second half saw Graul drop on an E.A. fumble. Lake Travis then went 4 and out but quick-kicked a coffin corner deep in E.A. territory. Sly Santos then fell on another E.A. fumble on the EA 6. Nate Baker dove in two plays later from the one, EP good by Tyler Halbert (13-7). Two more E.A. drives were stopped as Ben Taylor fell on another fumble and Hunter Graul intercepted a pass. Graul rushed 17 times for a season best 150 yards. Defensively Ty Thurman led with 5 tackles followed by Brad Dydalowicz and B. Taylor with 4. Standout Graul had 1 TD, 1 Int., 1 fumble recovery and 150 yards rushing.
September 30, 2000 -
October 7, 2000 - Lake Travis beat WAYA W 37-13. Hunter Graul broke an LTPW JPW single game rushing record with 272 yards on 18 carries and scored on TD's of 50, 2, 23, and 33 yards. Lake Travis had a season best 410 yards total offense. Ty Thurman registered his best game of the season with 120 yards and 2 TD's on 9 carries and also led the defense with 12 tackles. Bobby King registered 7 stops and forced a fumble. Tim Knebel also had a season high 6 tackles followed by Ben Taylor (4), Travis Taylor, Nate Baker and Hunter Graul (3 each).
